Medici-shaped, in silver richly carved with grotesque decoration of masks, cherubs, lion heads, foliage, foliage scrolls, vine leaves, palmettes and coats of arms, the lower body gadrooned. Resting on a circular base carved with lizards and bear heads.

Marked under the base “Odiot, orfèvre du Roi à Paris” and dated 1839. Goldsmith’s hallmark in a lozenge with the O overhanging an antique oil lamp.

The exceptional quality of these objects testifies to the period during which Charles-Nicolas Odiot was the official goldsmith to King Louis-Philippe (reign 1830-1848).
